Pre-Employment Standards

1. Be a Citizen of the United States and a resident of the City of Fraser, employed in the City of Fraser, or a resident of Macomb County.  Priority will be given to Fraser residents.
2. Have obtained a high school education or the equivalent.
3. Have no prior felony conviction.
4. Possess good moral character with references.
5. Be free from physical defects, chronic disease, organic or functional conditions, or mental and emotional instabilities which may tend to impair the efficient performance of a volunteer firefighter, or which might endanger the lives of other firefighters.
6. Possess a valid drivers Michigan motor vehicle operator's license and good driving record.
7. Demonstrate physical ability at a level necessary to perform job related firefighting functions as determined by a pre-employment test.
8. Successfully complete any and all training curriculum as required by the Michigan Firefighters Training Council and the department.
9. Minimum age of 18 years.
10. Be Firefighter II certified or fire academy certified.
11. Pass a background investigation.
12. Pass an oral interview with both the executive board and the fire lieutenant.
